Getting Started

We look forward to meeting you on your first visit to Smiles Inc. During this time, we will help you get acquainted with our office and learn about your orthodontic treatment. Your first orthodontic visit will consist of an examination and discussion of potential treatment options. During this visit, we usually take a panoramic x-ray to ensure proper root development and tooth eruption.

Both the examination and x-ray are free of charge.

Dr. Nuveen will estimate the length of your treatment and explain the benefits of braces. In addition, your insurance coverage and the cost of treatment will be thoroughly discussed at this initial visit.

What’s Next:

During your initial consultation, Dr. Nuveen will be determined if treatment is necessary. If treatment is required, full diagnostic records are necessary to develop a custom treatment plan for each patient.
Diagnostic records include:

  • Digital pictures
  • Facial and dental x-rays
  • Models of the upper and lower teeth

If the patient is not ready for treatment, they are placed on recall to be seen at a later date in our office. During the recall phase Dr. Nuveen monitors the eruption of teeth, the development of the facial bones and can recommend orthodontic care when it is most efficient and cost effective.
